I was honestly a bit nervous about trying laser treatments, but I’m so glad I decided to go to Laser Skin Clinic. From the first appointment, the staff made me feel completely at ease. They explained everything clearly, answered all my questions, and didn’t make me feel rushed at all.
The clinic itself is really clean and welcoming, which immediately put me in a good frame of mind. During my sessions, Maxin always checked in to make sure I was comfortable and explained what was happening step by step.
The prices are a bit of an investment, but honestly, the results and the peace of mind I’ve gained have been worth it. I’d definitely recommend Laser Skin Clinic to anyone who’s been thinking about laser but is hesitant — I was in the same place, and now I just wish I’d started sooner.

Everything was first class from start to finish.
My thanks to Dr Rajpar, Mr Odeke and all the other staff at Midland Skin who helped.

After doing some research, I decided to go to Midland Skin for treatment for rhinophyma (an advanced form of rosacea), which is a progressive disfiguring skin condition affecting the nose.
I wanted advice from a recognised consultant dermatologist and, if required, plastic surgery with the latest laser equipment involving a recognised and experienced plastic surgeon.
Initial Consultation with Dermatologist
Dr Rajpar explained the condition, advised on the best medication to slow the progress and advised my GP of what to prescribe for me for the future.
The option for plastic surgery and the process involved was explained, and detailed information about what to expect and aftercare requirements were provided. A comprehensive set of notes and instructions for me to take away to look at were also provided.
A care plan and cost was subsequently sent to me. It was then up to me to decide whether to go with medication to slow progress or have the laser resurfacing to reshape my nose.
Laser Resurfacing
I decided to take the option of laser resurfacing. The cost seemed fair and competitive, and anyone with this type of condition will know how much it can affect confidence etc. Having read about Ablative Laser Resurfacing, I knew that this was the best equipment and process available for my condition.
The process was painless as the area to be resurfaced was numbed. Mr Odeke (plastic surgeon) and Dr Rajpar both attended and worked together to perform the procedure.
Amazingly, there was no pain when the anaesthetic wore off, and no need for any pain killers.
After Care
Very impressed with the aftercare received from Midland Skin. Daily photographs were sent in for Dr Rajpar to monitor progress. Any deviation from the expected progress was picked up by Dr Rajpar, and advice given on what to do. A prescription was quickly provided when needed, and a visit arranged to review progress and do a little work to enhance the healing process. It was really reassuring to have daily feedback and advice and help when needed during the healing process.
The Outcome
Just brilliant. Very happy with the result. I would not hesitate to use Midland Skin again.
Once again, my thanks to everyone from Midland Skin for the excellent service provided.

I have been a long-term patient of Kat&co, seeking a tummy tuck following a significant weight loss of nearly 11 stones. Due to the resulting excess skin on my abdomen, I consulted with Miss Kerstin. Miss Kerstin, a highly professional and compassionate surgeon, demonstrated a clear understanding of my aesthetic goals. She recommended a FDL abdominoplasty with muscle repair. The entire care team and nursing staff provided exceptional support throughout the surgical process. Post-operative care was also outstanding. I am extremely pleased with the results, which have significantly improved my quality of life. I am immensely grateful to Miss Kerstin for her exceptional work. I highly recommend this clinic and, specifically, Miss Kerstin, for those considering a tummy tuck.

I genuinely cannot recommend laser skin clinics enough. From the moment I arrived, I was greeted by the lovely Angel. Friendly, professional and very informative from the get go! Maxine who is the loveliest of ladies has performed my 3 x treatments to date. Each time she has been incredible. Not only carrying out the treatments, but also offering her advice and expertise on other skin complaints I have. Neither Maxine nor Angel have ever tried to sell on any products or treatments that are offered at the clinic. In fact, quite the contrary! Location is lovely. Facilities spotlessly clean. Prices I find are very reasonable and money has definitely been well spent here. I would not go anywhere else and recommend them to all my family and friends. Thank you :) x

FAQs

Laser skin resurfacing is an advanced cosmetic procedure that uses concentrated beams of laser light to remove damaged outer layers of skin, stimulate collagen production in deeper layers and trigger the skin's natural healing response to reveal smoother, younger-looking, more evenly-toned skin. The treatment is one of the most effective non-surgical options for significant skin rejuvenation. Types of laser resurfacing include ablative lasers like CO2 and Erbium that remove skin layers through vaporization; non-ablative lasers that heat underlying tissue without removing surface; and fractional lasers treating columns of skin leaving surrounding tissue intact for faster healing. How laser resurfacing works involves laser energy being absorbed by water in skin cells; instant vaporization of targeted tissue; controlled removal of damaged skin; heat stimulating collagen production; and wound healing revealing fresh, rejuvenated skin. What laser resurfacing treats includes moderate to deep wrinkles and lines; sun damage and photoaging; age spots and hyperpigmentation; acne scars and textural irregularities; uneven skin tone and texture; loose, sagging skin; and overall skin rejuvenation. The different laser types show CO2 laser being most aggressive for dramatic results; Erbium laser being gentler with faster recovery; fractional CO2 balancing efficacy with downtime; and non-ablative lasers providing subtle improvement with minimal downtime. Treatment areas include face being most common; neck and décolletage; hands showing age; and body areas with sun damage or scars. Who performs laser resurfacing shows treatments being done by dermatologists; plastic surgeons; trained aesthetic doctors; and requiring significant expertise for safety and optimal results. The depth of treatment demonstrates superficial resurfacing treating epidermis only; medium depth reaching upper dermis; deep resurfacing penetrating mid-dermis; and depth determining both results and recovery. Recovery varying by treatment type shows ablative requiring 1-2 weeks social downtime; fractional having 3-7 days; non-ablative needing minimal to no downtime; and planning being essential.

In Wolverhampton, the price of Laser Resurfacing typically ranges from around £180 to £2000. The cost in Wolverhampton can vary depending on the area treated, the specific laser technology or device used, and how many sessions are recommended. Practitioner experience and clinic standards in Wolverhampton also influence how much Laser Resurfacing costs locally. You can find the exact, up-to-date price for this treatment in the catalogue

Laser resurfacing works through two primary mechanisms: ablation (removal of damaged skin layers through vaporization) and stimulation of new collagen production in deeper layers, with the laser's controlled thermal energy triggering a wound healing cascade that results in smoother, tighter, more youthful skin. The ablative mechanism shows laser energy being precisely absorbed by water in skin tissue; instantaneous heating causing tissue vaporization; controlled removal of damaged epidermis and upper dermis; depth being precisely controlled by laser settings; and removing aged, sun-damaged skin layers. The thermal stimulation effect involves residual heat penetrating deeper layers; thermal injury triggering collagen remodeling; fibroblasts being activated to produce new collagen; immediate collagen contraction providing tightening; and months of continued collagen production. How different lasers work includes CO2 lasers at 10,600nm wavelength being absorbed by water, creating precise ablation and significant thermal effect; Erbium lasers at 2,940nm being absorbed even better by water, causing precise ablation with less thermal damage; and fractional lasers creating microscopic treatment zones leaving surrounding tissue for faster healing. The fractional technology advantage demonstrates treating 20-30% of skin surface area; microscopic columns of thermal damage; untreated tissue accelerating healing; balancing efficacy with recovery; and allowing aggressive treatment with manageable downtime. The wound healing cascade shows immediate tissue removal; inflammatory phase activating repair; fibroblast proliferation producing collagen; epithelialization covering treated areas; and remodeling phase improving results over months. Depth control and precision involves computer-controlled pulse duration; energy level determining depth; multiple passes increasing treatment intensity; surgeon expertise optimizing outcomes; and modern lasers providing unprecedented control. What happens at cellular level shows damaged cells being vaporized; growth factors being released; stem cells being activated; collagen synthesis increasing dramatically; and skin architecture being rebuilt. The collagen remodeling timeline demonstrates immediate collagen contraction; new collagen production over 3-6 months; continued improvement for up to 12 months; structural changes providing lasting results; and why results improve progressively. The temperature effects include controlled thermal zones; heat shock proteins being activated; cellular regeneration being triggered; blood vessels constricting then healing; and therapeutic heat stimulating without destroying. Why laser is superior to other methods relates to precise depth control; targeted treatment areas; stimulating regeneration not just removing surface; computer-controlled safety; and proven, dramatic results. Understanding how laser resurfacing works at both ablative and cellular levels helps explain why recovery takes time, why results continue improving for months, and why the treatment provides such dramatic, long-lasting rejuvenation compared to less invasive options.

Yes, laser resurfacing works very effectively for skin rejuvenation, with clinical studies and decades of use demonstrating significant, measurable improvements in wrinkles, skin texture, tone and overall appearance, particularly with ablative CO2 and Erbium lasers providing the most dramatic results. Clinical evidence supporting effectiveness includes peer-reviewed studies showing 50-90% improvement in wrinkles; objective measurements of skin tightening; histological proof of collagen increase; patient satisfaction rates of 80-90%; and before/after photography documenting transformation. What laser resurfacing effectively treats shows moderate to deep wrinkles reducing 50-70%; fine lines improving 60-80%; acne scars improving 40-70%; sun damage and pigmentation clearing 70-90%; skin texture becoming dramatically smoother; and significant overall rejuvenation. How effectiveness is measured includes standardized wrinkle grading scales; 3D imaging showing skin changes; patient satisfaction questionnaires; photographic assessment; and objective collagen measurements via biopsy. Factors affecting how well it works for you include age and skin condition; sun damage severity; skin type and Fitzpatrick classification; realistic expectations; post-treatment care; and practitioner expertise. Who benefits most from laser resurfacing includes people with moderate to severe sun damage; those with significant wrinkles and lines; fair to medium skin types responding best; realistic expectations about recovery; and commitment to sun protection afterward. Effectiveness by laser type shows ablative CO2 providing most dramatic results; Erbium offering excellent improvement with less downtime; fractional balancing results and recovery; and non-ablative providing subtle enhancement. Realistic expectations about results include significant improvement not perfection; younger, fresher appearance; smoother, more even skin; reduced but not eliminated wrinkles; and natural-looking rejuvenation. The evidence quality shows decades of clinical use; thousands of procedures performed; consistent results across studies; FDA clearance; and being considered gold standard. What laser resurfacing cannot do includes not stopping the aging process; not preventing future sun damage; not eliminating all wrinkles; not replacing surgical facelift for severe laxity; and requiring maintenance over years. Comparing effectiveness to alternatives demonstrates laser being more effective than chemical peels for deep concerns; providing superior results to microneedling; being less invasive than surgery; and offering dramatic improvement that non-ablative treatments cannot match. Long-term effectiveness shows results lasting 5-10 years typically; some improvement being permanent; new aging occurring gradually; sun protection maintaining results; and many people being satisfied long-term. When laser resurfacing might not work as well relates to very dark skin having higher complication risk; active acne or infection contraindicating treatment; unrealistic expectations causing dissatisfaction; and inadequate post-care compromising results. Most dermatologists and plastic surgeons agree that laser resurfacing, particularly ablative CO2 and fractional CO2, provides the most dramatic non-surgical skin rejuvenation available, with proven, significant improvements in wrinkles, texture and tone that justify the recovery period for appropriate candidates.

Yes, CO2 laser resurfacing really works and is considered the gold standard for dramatic skin rejuvenation, with clinical studies showing 50-80% improvement in moderate to deep wrinkles, significant skin tightening, and dramatic overall rejuvenation that can last 5-10 years or more. The proven effectiveness of CO2 resurfacing relates to 30+ years of clinical use; extensive peer-reviewed research; consistent dramatic results; being the benchmark against which other treatments are measured; and providing the most significant non-surgical improvement possible. What CO2 laser achieves shows moderate to deep wrinkles improving 60-80%; fine lines reducing dramatically; significant skin tightening from collagen contraction; acne scars improving 50-70%; sun damage and pigmentation clearing substantially; and overall rejuvenation comparable to facelift for some concerns. The mechanism making CO2 effective involves precise ablation removing aged, damaged skin; significant thermal effect stimulating massive collagen production; controlled depth allowing dramatic treatment; immediate collagen contraction tightening skin; and months of continued collagen remodeling. Clinical evidence supporting CO2 effectiveness includes histological studies showing 35-50% increase in collagen; objective measurements of wrinkle reduction; 3D imaging documenting skin tightening; patient satisfaction rates of 85-95%; and photographic evidence of dramatic transformation. Fractional CO2 advances show traditional full-field CO2 being very effective but having 2-3 week recovery; fractional CO2 providing 70-80% of results with 1 week recovery; modern technology balancing efficacy and downtime; and making CO2 accessible to more people. Who benefits most from CO2 resurfacing includes people with moderate to severe photoaging; those with significant wrinkles seeking dramatic improvement; fair to medium skin types; people accepting 1-2 week recovery; and realistic expectations about process. What makes CO2 superior to other lasers relates to maximum collagen stimulation; deepest treatment possible; most dramatic tightening effect; long-lasting results; and proven track record. Realistic expectations about CO2 results include dramatic visible improvement; skin looking 5-10 years younger; significant wrinkle reduction; improved texture and tone; natural-looking rejuvenation; and understanding recovery being substantial. The results durability shows CO2 effects lasting 5-10 years commonly; some improvements being semi-permanent; new aging occurring gradually; sun protection maintaining results; and many people going 10+ years between treatments. Comparing CO2 to other treatments demonstrates providing superior results to chemical peels; more dramatic improvement than microneedling or RF; being most effective non-surgical option; and results approaching surgical facelift for some concerns. Potential downsides requiring consideration include 1-2 week social downtime; redness persisting weeks to months; requires significant healing commitment; risk of complications if improper aftercare; and not being appropriate for darker skin. Most plastic surgeons and dermatologists agree that CO2 laser resurfacing, whether traditional or fractional, provides the most dramatic, proven, long-lasting skin rejuvenation available without surgery, with results that really do justify the recovery period for appropriate candidates seeking significant transformation.

Laser resurfacing does cause discomfort during and after treatment, but pain management options including topical and local anaesthesia during the procedure make it tolerable, with post-treatment discomfort being compared to a sunburn and manageable with prescribed medications and proper care. Pain during ablative laser resurfacing shows the procedure itself causing 7-9/10 pain without anaesthesia; topical numbing cream reducing discomfort significantly; local anaesthetic blocks eliminating pain during treatment; some clinics offering IV sedation or twilight anaesthesia; and the procedure being very tolerable with proper pain management. What laser resurfacing feels like includes sensation of heat and stinging during pulses; burning feeling on treated areas; intensity varying by depth and area; face being more sensitive than body; and treatment lasting 30-90 minutes depending on extent. Pain management during treatment involves applying topical anaesthetic 60-90 minutes before; nerve blocks for deeper treatments; IV sedation for extensive procedures; cooling devices providing relief; and experienced practitioners managing discomfort. Post-treatment pain and discomfort shows days 1-3 being most uncomfortable; sensation like severe sunburn; raw, tight feeling; significant discomfort managed with prescribed pain medication; and most people rating it 4-6/10. The recovery pain timeline demonstrates first 24-48 hours requiring strong pain management; days 3-5 with decreasing discomfort; week 1 improving significantly; week 2 with minimal pain remaining; and persistent tightness or sensitivity possible for weeks. Pain management after treatment includes prescribed pain medications for first days; regular acetaminophen or ibuprofen; cool compresses providing relief; gentle moisturizing reducing tightness; and following all aftercare instructions. Factors affecting pain level include treatment depth with deeper being more painful; treatment area with full face being more uncomfortable; individual pain tolerance; anxiety level affecting perception; and proper anaesthesia making major difference. Comparing pain by laser type shows fully ablative CO2 being most painful; fractional CO2 having moderate pain; Erbium being somewhat less uncomfortable; and non-ablative having minimal pain. Non-ablative resurfacing pain shows treatments being much more comfortable; feeling like rubber band snaps; requiring only topical numbing; and being easily tolerated. What causes post-treatment pain relates to skin barrier being disrupted; raw, exposed dermis healing; nerve endings being affected; inflammation and swelling; and intensive healing occurring. Managing expectations about pain includes understanding significant discomfort is normal; first few days being challenging; pain being temporary and improving daily; prescribed medications being very helpful; and most people managing well with support. When to contact practitioner shows pain increasing rather than improving; severe pain not controlled by medications; signs of infection; unusual discomfort; and any concerning symptoms. Most people find laser resurfacing pain to be significant but manageable, with proper anaesthesia making the procedure tolerable, prescribed pain medications controlling post-treatment discomfort, and the temporary pain being worth enduring for the dramatic, long-lasting skin rejuvenation results achieved.

Laser resurfacing healing time varies significantly by treatment type, with ablative CO2 requiring 10-14 days for initial healing and 2-3 months for full recovery, fractional CO2 needing 5-7 days for social healing and 4-8 weeks for complete healing, and non-ablative lasers having minimal downtime with just a few days of redness. The initial healing phase for ablative resurfacing shows days 1-2 with raw, oozing skin requiring intensive care; days 3-5 showing crusting and peeling; days 5-7 with skin fully re-epithelialized; days 7-10 having new pink skin; days 10-14 reaching social acceptability with makeup; and weeks 2-4 showing continued improvement. The complete healing timeline demonstrates weeks 1-2 being intensive healing period; weeks 2-4 with persistent pinkness; weeks 4-8 showing gradual normalization; months 2-3 for redness to fade substantially; and months 3-6 reaching final appearance. Healing by laser type shows traditional fully ablative CO2 requiring 2-3 weeks social downtime; fractional CO2 needing 5-10 days typically; Erbium having 5-7 days recovery; and non-ablative requiring 1-3 days. What happens during healing includes wound care being critical first week; new skin growing from treatment zones; inflammation gradually resolving; collagen remodeling beginning; and progressive improvement continuing months. Factors affecting healing time include treatment depth and aggressiveness; individual healing capacity; age affecting recovery speed; following aftercare instructions strictly; avoiding sun exposure; and preventing infection. The aftercare importance shows proper wound care preventing complications; gentle cleansing multiple times daily; prescribed ointments protecting new skin; avoiding sun exposure completely; and instructions being critical for optimal healing. Redness duration being significant involves bright red initially; fading to pink over weeks; makeup covering after initial healing; redness lasting 2-3 months commonly for ablative; and individual variation being significant. When healing is considered complete shows new skin being formed in 7-14 days; redness having faded substantially by 2-3 months; skin texture continuing to improve for 6-12 months; collagen remodeling ongoing; and optimal results at 6-12 months. Returning to activities timeline demonstrates no exercise first 5-7 days; light activity at 1 week; full exercise at 2-3 weeks; avoiding sun for 3-6 months; and gradual return to normal with precautions. Work and social downtime shows ablative CO2 requiring 10-14 days off typically; fractional needing 5-7 days; makeup helping after initial healing; and planning treatment timing carefully. Realistic healing expectations include significant downtime for ablative treatments; commitment to intensive aftercare; patience with redness; understanding healing varies individually; and results justifying recovery period. When to seek medical attention shows increasing pain or swelling; signs of infection; unusual discharge or odor; delayed healing; and any concerning symptoms. Most people find laser resurfacing healing to be manageable when expectations are realistic, proper planning allows adequate recovery time, strict adherence to aftercare protocols is maintained, and patience is exercised as skin continues improving for many months after the initial healing phase.

Laser resurfacing results typically last 5 to 10 years for ablative treatments and 2 to 5 years for non-ablative procedures, with the longevity depending on treatment type, depth, sun protection practices, skincare routine and natural aging process. Many people maintain significant improvement for a decade or more with proper care. Duration by treatment type shows fully ablative CO2 lasting 7-10+ years commonly; fractional CO2 maintaining results 5-8 years; Erbium providing 5-7 years of improvement; and non-ablative lasers showing benefits for 2-5 years. Why results last years relates to significant collagen being created; new collagen being relatively permanent; skin architecture being improved; structural changes providing lasting benefits; and resurfacing revealing younger skin layers. What happens to results over time shows immediate improvements being most dramatic; collagen remodeling continuing 6-12 months; results reaching peak at 1 year; gradual natural aging resuming; and significant improvement remaining years later. Factors affecting longevity include treatment aggressiveness with deeper treatments lasting longer; sun protection being absolutely critical; skincare routine maintaining results; genetics and aging rate; smoking accelerating aging; and lifestyle choices mattering. The semi-permanent nature shows some improvements being very long-lasting; pigmentation removal being relatively permanent; collagen stimulation providing years of benefit; skin texture improvement lasting; but aging continuing gradually. Sun protection determining longevity demonstrates daily SPF 50+ being essential; sun damage undoing results; UV protection maintaining improvements; people protecting skin having longest results; and sun exposure being primary aging factor. Maintenance strategies extending results include medical-grade skincare; retinoids supporting collagen; proper sun protection daily; healthy lifestyle choices; periodic non-ablative treatments; and comprehensive skin health approach. When repeat treatment might be considered shows many people repeating after 7-10 years; maintenance fractional treatments every few years; addressing new aging as it develops; and treating being investment maintaining over time. Comparing longevity to other treatments demonstrates laser lasting longer than chemical peels; providing more durable results than injectables; being less permanent than surgery; but offering excellent cost-effectiveness over time. What affects different outcomes includes aggressive treatments providing longer results but higher initial downtime; conservative approaches needing maintenance sooner; individual healing affecting collagen production; and genetic factors being significant. The aging process continuing shows laser not stopping aging; new damage accumulating; sun exposure causing new concerns; and natural aging resuming post-treatment. Realistic expectations about duration include understanding results being long-lasting not permanent; significant improvement remaining years; maintenance supporting longevity; sun protection being critical; and viewing as long-term investment. Most people who undergo laser resurfacing report that dramatic improvements last 5-10 years, with many maintaining much of the benefit beyond a decade when proper sun protection and skincare are maintained, making it an excellent long-term investment in skin health and appearance compared to treatments requiring frequent repetition.

Before laser resurfacing treatment, people typically have moderate to severe signs of aging and sun damage; deep wrinkles and lines especially around eyes, mouth and forehead; rough, uneven skin texture; significant sun damage with age spots and discoloration; acne scarring affecting appearance; loose, sagging skin; dull, tired-looking complexion; and frustration with less aggressive treatments not providing desired improvement. After laser resurfacing treatment, particularly with ablative CO2 or fractional CO2, following the procedure and allowing complete healing and collagen remodeling (results assessed at 6 to 12 months post-treatment for optimal outcomes), most appropriate candidates experience dramatic, transformative improvements. Common results from CO2 laser resurfacing include 60-80% reduction in moderate to deep wrinkles; 70-90% improvement in skin texture and smoothness; dramatic evening of skin tone and clearing of pigmentation; 50-70% improvement in acne scars; visible skin tightening from collagen contraction; smoother, younger, more radiant appearance; elimination of years of sun damage; and skin looking 5-10 years younger. The transformation timeline demonstrates immediate tightening visible after swelling resolves at 2-3 weeks; progressive improvement as collagen remodels over 3-6 months; optimal results at 6-12 months post-treatment; continued subtle enhancement possible beyond 1 year; and long-lasting maintenance of improvement. Physical transformation includes dramatically smoother skin texture; visible reduction in wrinkle depth; tighter, firmer skin; even, radiant skin tone; reduced pore size; improved skin quality; and remarkably younger, fresher appearance. For acne scars specifically, results show significant improvement in depth and visibility; smoother skin surface; reduced shadowing; more even texture; and 40-70% improvement in scarring. The psychological and lifestyle impact demonstrates profoundly enhanced self-confidence; feeling more attractive and younger; reduced self-consciousness about aging; improved quality of life; receiving compliments; and life-changing positive effects. The degree of improvement depends on baseline severity of damage; treatment type and aggressiveness; practitioner skill and expertise; following healing protocols strictly; sun protection post-treatment; individual healing capacity; and realistic expectations. Typical measurable outcomes show wrinkle depth reducing 50-80%; Fitzpatrick wrinkle scores improving 2-3 grades; acne scars improving 40-70%; pigmentation clearing 70-90%; skin tightening being clinically measurable; and satisfaction rates of 85-95%. Before and after expectations should be realistic: laser resurfacing provides dramatic improvement not perfection; skin looking significantly younger and smoother; some fine lines may remain; recovery requiring 1-3 weeks depending on treatment; redness persisting 2-3 months; results continuing to improve for 6-12 months; and maintenance with sun protection being essential. Factors affecting final appearance include completing proper pre-treatment preparation; choosing experienced qualified practitioner; following all aftercare instructions meticulously; protecting from sun for months post-treatment; using recommended skincare; and being patient through healing. Most satisfied laser resurfacing patients report treatment being transformative and life-changing; dramatic reduction in aging signs; skin looking remarkably younger; results exceeding expectations; recovery being worth the improvement; confidence boost being profound; wishing they had done it sooner; and viewing it as best aesthetic investment they made.
