About

WHAT IS COOLSCULPTING?

CoolSculpting is a non-surgical fat reduction treatment that uses cryolipolysis — controlled cooling — to freeze and destroy stubborn fat cells. The body naturally eliminates these dead cells over the following weeks, resulting in a slimmer, more contoured appearance in treated areas. It's FDA-cleared and clinically proven to reduce fat.

COMMON TREATMENT AREAS:

  • Abdomen and flanks (love handles)
  • Thighs (inner and outer)
  • Under the chin (submental area)
  • Upper arms
  • Back and bra bulge
  • Underneath the buttocks (banana roll)

Process

What to Expect

A qualified practitioner applies a gel pad and applicator to the treatment area. The device delivers precise cooling to freeze fat cells without damaging surrounding tissue. Over the next 8–12 weeks, the frozen fat cells are naturally processed and eliminated by the body's lymphatic system.

As a man aesthetics is a subject that is frowned upon when talking with my mates etc. I went to Lisa and Mary because I had always been aware of my weight gain over the years and I have never been able to shift fat in certain areas around my belly. I was embarrassed to even disclose this. Lisa was matter of fact and spoke to me in a language that not only made me feel at ease but I understood what she was advising and this gave me confidence. I had the fat freeze and it was brilliant!!! I felt for the first time in decades confident to go on holiday and enjoy the sun. This really helped me and my confidence to relax. I'm a changed man and it's encouraged me to eat more healthy, it's kick started me to help me and not be stuck in a baggy cloths rut. I can't thank these good people enough. The best clinic bar none in Manchester. Thanks a million and I will be back possibly for more treatments , great experience all round

Gorgeous new premises, very comfortable and relaxing. Staff were friendly and helpful. I had Coolsculpting done. It's a relatively long process and I was made feel comfortable throughout. My therapist, Lauren, was great and Dr. Quinn singed off on my treatment before we started. I highly recommend.

Went for a consultation earlier this year with Dr Hill as I was considering fat freezing. I originally decided against it but went for another consultation and decided to opt to have the treatment. It’s been a few weeks and I can see a difference so was def the right decision. Staff are very friendly and knowledgeable and would recommend the clinic to anyone considering treatment

I have, today, had my second round of cool sculpting, after a six week gap, and already seen fantastic results with more to follow over the coming weeks. Sarah the Aesthetic Therapist is brilliant at what she does, explaining the steps along the way and making sure you are comfortable. She has had the treatment herself and so relates to worries or queries you may have. It’s a lovely friendly clinic that I highly recommend and I can’t wait for my next visit. Thanks to Natalie and Sarah X

I had CoolSculpting fat freezing with Jade at Qutis and couldn’t be happier. She was quiet, reassuring, and so confident—it really put me at ease. I originally thought I needed treatment on one part of my inner thighs, but Jade suggested a slightly higher area and she was absolutely right. Her eye for detail and skill were so impressive. The whole session was incredibly relaxing, and I left feeling in very safe hands. I highly recommend Jade to anyone considering CoolSculpting—she’s fantastic!

FAQs

CoolSculpting is an FDA-cleared, non-surgical fat reduction treatment that uses controlled cooling technology (cryolipolysis) to freeze and permanently destroy targeted fat cells without surgery, needles or downtime. The eliminated fat cells are naturally processed and removed by the body over weeks to months, resulting in a noticeable reduction in fat bulges. How CoolSculpting works involves applicators being placed on treatment areas; controlled cooling targeting fat cells; fat cells crystallizing and dying at specific temperatures; surrounding tissue remaining unharmed; dead fat cells being processed by lymphatic system; body naturally eliminating them over 2-3 months; and permanent reduction in treated fat pockets. The science behind cryolipolysis shows fat cells being more vulnerable to cold than other tissues; controlled cooling at -11°C to -7°C affecting fat cells selectively; crystallization causing fat cell death (apoptosis); no damage to skin, nerves or other tissues; and proven biological mechanism. What CoolSculpting treats includes stubborn fat bulges resistant to diet and exercise; abdomen and flanks (love handles); thighs (inner and outer); upper arms; back fat and bra bulges; under chin (double chin); and various body areas with pinchable fat. Treatment areas available show different sized applicators for different body areas; multiple areas treatable in one session; customized treatment plans; and precision targeting of problem areas. What happens during treatment involves applicators being applied to marked areas; suction drawing tissue between cooling panels; intense cold sensation initially; area becoming numb after 5-10 minutes; treatment lasting 35-60 minutes per area; and most people reading, working or relaxing during session. The appeal of CoolSculpting shows being completely non-invasive with no surgery or needles; having zero downtime allowing immediate return to activities; being FDA-cleared and proven safe; permanently eliminating fat cells; and providing gradual natural-looking results.

Yes, CoolSculpting works effectively for reducing stubborn fat, with clinical studies showing an average of 20-25% fat reduction in treated areas and high patient satisfaction rates of 79-85%, though it's not a weight loss solution and works best for people near their ideal weight with specific areas of pinchable fat resistant to diet and exercise. Clinical evidence supporting effectiveness includes FDA clearance based on multiple clinical trials; peer-reviewed published studies; proven cryolipolysis mechanism; millions of treatments performed worldwide; and consistent documented results. What CoolSculpting effectively achieves shows 20-25% reduction in fat layer thickness on average; noticeable improvement in body contours; smoother, more sculpted appearance; clothes fitting better; and visible reduction in targeted areas. How effectiveness is measured includes ultrasound showing fat layer reduction; before and after photographs; caliper measurements; patient satisfaction questionnaires; and clinical assessment of results. Factors affecting how well it works for you include having pinchable fat in treatment area; being within 30 pounds of ideal weight; having realistic expectations; following healthy lifestyle; individual metabolism; and number of treatments. Who benefits most from CoolSculpting includes people with stubborn fat pockets despite healthy lifestyle; those near ideal weight seeking spot reduction; patients wanting non-surgical option; realistic expectations about moderate improvement; and as body contouring not weight loss. What CoolSculpting cannot do includes not being weight loss treatment; not treating obesity; not tightening loose skin; not replacing healthy lifestyle; not eliminating all fat in area; and not providing instant results. The evidence quality shows robust clinical data; FDA clearance; long-term follow-up studies; millions of satisfied patients; and proven track record. Realistic success rates demonstrate 79-85% patient satisfaction; most people seeing visible improvement; approximately 80% achieving desired results; individual variation being significant; and proper expectations determining satisfaction. Why some people don't see dramatic results relates to insufficient fat for treatment; unrealistic expectations; poor candidate selection; not completing recommended treatments; and individual metabolic differences. Comparing CoolSculpting to other fat reduction shows being more effective than RF or ultrasound for permanent fat reduction; less dramatic than liposuction but non-surgical; providing permanent fat cell elimination; and having excellent safety profile. Most plastic surgeons and dermatologists view CoolSculpting as effective non-surgical option for appropriate candidates, providing consistent modest fat reduction when used correctly for people with realistic expectations about gradual, moderate improvement in targeted stubborn fat areas.

Yes, CoolSculpting is very safe when performed properly, with FDA clearance since 2010, millions of treatments performed worldwide, and an excellent safety profile with minimal risks and side effects for most people, though rare complications like paradoxical adipose hyperplasia can occur in less than 0.01% of cases. The safety profile demonstrates being FDA-cleared for multiple body areas; non-invasive with no surgery, needles or anaesthesia; extensive clinical testing; years of real-world use; and proven safety record. Common side effects include temporary redness and swelling; numbness lasting days to weeks; tingling or stinging sensations; firmness or mild pain; bruising at treatment site; and these resolving on their own. Why CoolSculpting is considered safe relates to controlled cooling being well-studied; no damage to surrounding tissues; no system-wide effects; body naturally processing dead fat cells; and complications being rare. Rare but serious risks show paradoxical adipose hyperplasia (PAH) occurring in less than 0.01% of cases; fat actually increasing in treated area; requiring liposuction to correct; being more common in men; and mechanism not being fully understood. Other uncommon complications include freeze burns from applicator malfunction being very rare; prolonged numbness usually resolving; delayed pain onset in some people; and skin sensitivity changes usually temporary. Contraindications for CoolSculpting include cryoglobulinemia; cold agglutinin disease; paroxysmal cold hemoglobinuria; active hernias in treatment area; pregnancy or breastfeeding; and certain medical conditions. Safety by treatment area demonstrates abdomen and flanks being safest; under chin requiring experienced practitioner; arms and thighs being very safe; and proper applicator selection being important. Who should not have CoolSculpting includes people with cold-related conditions; loose skin needing tightening not fat reduction; pregnant or breastfeeding women; those with hernias; and individuals with unrealistic expectations. The FDA monitoring shows continued post-market surveillance; reporting of adverse events; updates to safety information; and PAH risk being added to labeling. Minimizing risks involves choosing qualified experienced providers; proper patient screening; following all protocols; reporting unusual symptoms promptly; and realistic expectations. Long-term safety data shows no systemic health effects; treated fat cells being permanently eliminated safely; no long-term complications in vast majority; and excellent safety record over 10+ years. Most CoolSculpting providers emphasize that when performed by qualified practitioners with proper patient selection and technique, the treatment is very safe with high patient satisfaction and minimal complications, though like any medical procedure, risks exist and should be discussed during consultation.

Yes, CoolSculpting results are permanent in that the fat cells destroyed and eliminated from treated areas are gone forever and do not regenerate. However, remaining fat cells can still expand with weight gain, so maintaining stable weight through healthy lifestyle is essential to preserve results long-term. Why results are permanent relates to fat cells being permanently destroyed by freezing; dead cells being eliminated by body's natural processes; adults not producing new fat cells; treated fat cells never returning; and permanent reduction in number of fat cells. What permanent means for CoolSculpting shows destroyed fat cells being gone forever; 20-25% reduction in treated fat layer being lasting; body contour improvement being maintained; results not reversing on their own; and treated areas having fewer fat cells permanently. The permanence mechanism demonstrates apoptosis (programmed cell death) being irreversible; dead fat cells being processed by macrophages; lymphatic system removing debris; complete elimination taking 2-3 months; and fat cells not regenerating in adults. What happens to remaining fat cells shows untreated fat cells remaining in area; these cells can expand with weight gain; overall fewer cells in treated area; weight gain affecting appearance; and maintenance being lifestyle-dependent. Weight gain effects on results include significant weight gain expanding remaining fat cells; fat potentially accumulating more in untreated areas; treated areas maintaining better contour than without treatment; proportional fat gain being less noticeable; and stable weight preserving optimal results. Long-term durability shows studies following patients 6-9 years; maintained improvement when weight stable; patient satisfaction remaining high; retreatment rarely being needed; and results standing test of time. Comparing permanence to other treatments demonstrates liposuction also permanently removing fat cells; CoolSculpting having similar permanence mechanism; non-invasive RF or ultrasound not permanently destroying cells; and CoolSculpting providing truly permanent reduction. The lifestyle maintenance importance involves healthy diet preserving results; regular exercise maintaining weight; overall weight stability being crucial; minor fluctuations being acceptable; and significant gain affecting appearance. When retreatment might be considered shows addressing different areas; enhancing previous treatment; weight loss revealing new areas; maintenance treatments being uncommon; and most people being satisfied long-term. What is not permanent relates to aging process continuing; skin quality changes with time; weight fluctuations affecting appearance; and lifestyle choices mattering. Realistic expectations about permanence include understanding fat cells eliminated being gone forever; remaining cells able to expand; maintenance requiring healthy lifestyle; treated areas always having advantage; and results being long-lasting with stable weight. Most CoolSculpting patients maintain their results for many years when they maintain stable weight, with the fat reduction being permanent as long as overall body weight doesn't increase significantly, making it a truly long-term solution for stubborn fat when combined with healthy lifestyle habits.

CoolSculpting causes initial discomfort from intense cold and suction for the first 5-10 minutes, but the treated area becomes numb quickly making the rest of treatment comfortable, with most people rating pain as 3-4 out of 10 initially and 0-1 once numb, reading, working or relaxing during the session. What CoolSculpting feels like during treatment includes strong pulling sensation from suction; intense cold and tingling initially; cramping or aching feeling; discomfort lasting first 5-10 minutes; area becoming completely numb; and remaining treatment being comfortable. The pain timeline shows first 5-10 minutes being most uncomfortable; sharp cold and pulling sensation; some cramping or pressure; then numbness setting in; remainder of 35-60 minutes being painless; and most people relaxing, reading or using devices. Why discomfort is temporary relates to cold causing nerve numbness; area becoming insensate quickly; treatment being comfortable once numb; no pain during most of session; and tolerable brief initial phase. After treatment discomfort includes area feeling numb and firm for hours; tingling or itching sensations; tenderness when touched; mild to moderate soreness; and these resolving over days to weeks. Post-treatment pain management shows over-the-counter pain relief being usually sufficient; tenderness being manageable; massage helping initial stiffness; discomfort decreasing daily; and most people finding it very tolerable. The massage component involves practitioner massaging treated area for 2-3 minutes immediately after; breaking up frozen tissue; being moderately uncomfortable but brief; helping improve results; and being important part of treatment. Days after treatment show possible bruising and swelling; tenderness lasting few days to weeks; numbness persisting days to weeks; firmness and lumpy feeling temporarily; and gradual return to normal sensation. Pain variation by treatment area demonstrates abdomen and flanks being well-tolerated; inner thighs being more sensitive; under chin having significant soreness after; arms being generally comfortable; and individual pain tolerance varying. Comparing pain to other treatments shows being less painful than injections or liposuction; more comfortable than some RF treatments; initial discomfort being brief; overall being very tolerable; and having no anaesthesia requirement. Delayed onset pain in some people relates to rare occurrence days 3-14 after treatment; mechanism not fully understood; resolving on its own; being manageable with medication; and affecting small percentage. What makes CoolSculpting tolerable includes pain being brief initially; numbness making most of treatment comfortable; no needles or surgery; ability to read, work or relax; and overall being very manageable. Most CoolSculpting patients report that while the first few minutes are uncomfortable, the treatment quickly becomes tolerable once numbness sets in, with post-treatment soreness being manageable and the overall pain experience being much less than anticipated, making it an easily tolerated procedure.

CoolSculpting results last permanently as long as you maintain stable weight, with the destroyed fat cells being gone forever and most people maintaining their improved body contours for years to decades, though weight gain can affect appearance by expanding remaining fat cells. The permanence of fat cell elimination shows fat cells destroyed by CoolSculpting never regenerating; 20-25% reduction in treated fat being permanent; eliminated cells being gone forever; adults not producing new fat cells; and structural change being lasting. Long-term studies show patients followed 6-9 years maintaining results; satisfaction remaining high over time; retreatment rarely being needed; stable weight preserving contours; and durability being proven. What lasting means in practice includes maintaining slimmer contour in treated areas; clothes continuing to fit better; improved body shape being preserved; no reversal of fat reduction; and long-term satisfaction. Factors affecting longevity include weight stability being most crucial; maintaining healthy lifestyle; minor fluctuations being tolerable; significant weight gain affecting results; and overall health habits mattering. The maintenance requirements show no touch-up treatments needed typically; keeping weight within 10-15 pounds of treatment weight; continuing diet and exercise; healthy habits preserving results; and treated areas maintaining advantage. Weight gain effects on lasting results demonstrate significant gain expanding remaining fat cells; fat accumulating in untreated areas potentially; treated areas still having proportionally less fat; weight loss restoring optimal appearance; and stable weight being key to longevity. Why results endure involves fat cells being permanently eliminated; body not replacing destroyed cells; structural fat reduction being lasting; biological mechanism being permanent; and only lifestyle affecting appearance. When results might seem to diminish relates to substantial weight gain; aging process affecting skin quality; other untreated areas showing more fat; pregnancy causing changes; and lifestyle factors. Realistic expectations about duration include understanding results being permanent with stable weight; weight gain affecting appearance; treated areas always having fewer fat cells; maintenance being lifestyle-dependent; and decades-long durability being possible. Comparing CoolSculpting durability to other treatments shows liposuction also providing permanent results; both permanently removing fat cells; non-invasive alternatives often being temporary; and CoolSculpting matching surgical permanence. What happens over decades shows fat reduction being maintained long-term when weight stable; aging affecting skin quality but not fat cells; treated areas continuing to have advantage; and results standing test of time. Most CoolSculpting patients report maintaining their results for many years, with the fat reduction being permanent as long as they maintain stable weight through healthy lifestyle, making CoolSculpting a true long-term solution that can last a lifetime when combined with weight maintenance.

Most people need 1-3 CoolSculpting treatments per area to achieve optimal results, with many seeing satisfactory improvement after just one session, though the exact number depends on the amount of fat present, desired degree of reduction and treatment area, with treatments spaced 8-12 weeks apart. Single treatment effectiveness shows one session reducing fat by 20-25% typically; many people being satisfied with one treatment; visible noticeable improvement; some areas responding well to single session; and assessing results before deciding on more. When multiple treatments are recommended includes people with more fat to reduce; seeking maximum possible reduction; treating larger areas comprehensively; stubborn areas needing enhancement; and personalized treatment plans. Treatment by body area shows abdomen often needing 2-3 sessions for optimal results; flanks typically requiring 1-2 treatments per side; thighs responding to 1-2 treatments usually; arms usually needing 1-2 sessions; and under chin often requiring 1-2 treatments. The treatment spacing importance demonstrates waiting 8-12 weeks between sessions; allowing full results to develop; body processing eliminated fat cells; assessing improvement before retreating; and not treating same area too frequently. Why multiple sessions provide better results relates to cumulative fat reduction; addressing remaining fat after first treatment; progressive improvement; achieving desired contour; and customized approach. Treatment planning strategy involves starting with one session; assessing results at 2-3 months; determining if additional treatment desired; treating additional areas; and building progressive improvement. Factors affecting session number include baseline fat amount; individual treatment response; metabolism and elimination rate; desired final result; budget and time considerations; and realistic goals. What to expect from one treatment shows 20-25% fat reduction in treated area; visible improvement in contour; noticeable reduction in bulge; clothes fitting better; and satisfaction for many people. When enhancement treatments are beneficial relates to achieving maximum possible reduction; refining results; addressing remaining fat; stubborn areas needing more treatment; and patient wanting further improvement. Realistic expectations about treatment number include understanding 1-3 sessions being typical; not expecting complete fat elimination; moderate improvement per treatment; gradual progression; and individualized approach. The consultation importance shows practitioner assessing your specific needs; recommending treatment plan; discussing expected outcomes; setting realistic expectations; and customizing approach. Most CoolSculpting providers recommend starting with one treatment, waiting 8-12 weeks to assess results, then determining if additional sessions would benefit you, with many people being satisfied after 1-2 treatments though up to 3 sessions per area can be done for maximum reduction when desired.

Before CoolSculpting treatment, people typically have stubborn fat bulges resistant to diet and exercise; pinchable fat on abdomen, flanks, thighs or other areas; frustration with inability to lose specific fat deposits; clothes not fitting well in problem areas; self-consciousness about body contours; near ideal weight but bothered by specific areas; and desire for body contouring without surgery. After CoolSculpting treatment, following 1-3 treatment sessions per area with proper 8-12 week spacing and allowing full time for fat cell elimination and body processing (results assessed at 3-4 months post-final treatment for optimal outcomes), most appropriate candidates experience significant, satisfying improvements. Common results from CoolSculpting include 20-25% reduction in fat layer thickness per treatment; noticeable improvement in body contours; visible reduction in bulges and rolls; smoother, more sculpted appearance; clothes fitting better in treated areas; enhanced body confidence; natural-looking gradual improvement; and high satisfaction rates of 79-85%. The improvement timeline demonstrates initial subtle changes at 3-4 weeks; visible improvement at 8-12 weeks; continued enhancement through 3-4 months; optimal results by 3-4 months post-treatment; and progressive natural-looking reduction. Physical transformation by treatment area shows abdomen becoming flatter with reduced belly pooch; flanks smoothing with less love handle protrusion; thighs showing reduced inner or outer bulges; arms appearing more toned with reduced fat; double chin becoming more defined; and overall enhanced body contours. The visible changes include measurable reduction in circumference; smoother body lines; reduced fat bulges; better clothing fit; enhanced definition; and more sculpted appearance. The degree of improvement depends on baseline fat amount in treated area; number of treatments completed; individual metabolism and fat processing; lifestyle maintenance including stable weight; realistic expectations; and completing recommended protocol. Typical measurable outcomes show 20-25% fat reduction per treatment area; 1-3 inch circumference reduction possible; ultrasound confirming fat layer decrease; photographic documentation showing clear improvement; and patient satisfaction surveys showing 79-85% being pleased. Before and after expectations should be realistic: CoolSculpting provides moderate not dramatic transformation; works best for spot reduction not weight loss; requires maintaining stable weight to preserve results; results are permanent but lifestyle matters; multiple treatments may be needed for optimal outcomes; improvement is gradual over months not immediate; and perfection is not achievable though significant enhancement is. Factors affecting final appearance include maintaining weight within 10-15 pounds of treatment weight; continuing healthy diet and exercise; proper treatment area selection; completing recommended sessions; following all pre and post-treatment guidelines; individual biological response; and realistic goal setting. Most satisfied CoolSculpting patients report visible noticeable improvement in treated areas; enhanced body contours and definition; better fitting clothes; significant confidence boost; appreciation for non-surgical approach; natural-looking gradual results; permanent fat reduction when weight stable; results meeting or exceeding expectations when realistic; and viewing treatment as worthwhile investment in body confidence.
