I was treated by Dr Hussein who was absolutely amazing and thorough. Extremely knowledgeable. I had four big and raised moles on my face, which I’ve had all my life. It was a very smooth procedure with no pain at all. The after care instructions which were sent to me really helped. Healing totally fine. Thank you to the whole team as everyone was really lovely and professional. Planing to go back for more removals soon. Highly recommend!

I found Dr Derma on Facebook whilst researching places for skin tag removal. After filling out the super quick online form, I was contacted shortly after to book an online consultation. Dr derma was very flexible around my working hours and the consultation was friendly, informative and quick. I was able to get an appointment for just a few days later on a Sunday morning too! The treatment was quick and painless, and within 2 weeks my skin tag completely went! The whole process from start to finish was just great, I would highly recommend and will definitely be returning for other treatments in the future.

Wow! Wow! Wow! Brilliant results. I had a chemical skin peel with Coral and it couldn't have gone any better! It was my first ever skin peel and I felt so as ease. Coral talked me through the process before and during the treatment. She also explained aftercare and checked in with me in the days following to see how I was getting on. This was really kind. I asked for one that wasn't too harsh as it was my first time and I was worried about it being strong but she assessed my skin and was able to use what she deemed as suitable. I saw results immediately. My skin was glowing for days and I am confident that if I keep them up then I will finally have the confidence to not wear makeup anymore. Coral is very sweet, enthusiastic about aesthetics and really knows her stuff. You can tell she has been trained to a high standard. I will definitely be coming back. Thanks Coral x

I found Dr Verma's website following a search for chemical peels around the eyes. During my first consultation, Dr Verma spent time explaining the options available to me and tailored a treatment plan in line with my concerns. The peels have been very successful and I am very pleased with the results. I am also using the skincare products she recommended and they have made a significant difference in the health of my skin overall. Eliza is also fantastic to deal with. A great team all around!

Maria was so lovely—professional, attentive, and really took the time to listen to my skin concerns. She explained how the facial would help and what results I could expect, which made me feel completely at ease. I also had a consultation with George, who is incredible at advising on treatments for injectables. His expertise as a dermatologist is unmatched, and he really understood my needs. The clinic itself is in a great location, and the whole team is fantastic. I highly recommend Derma Labs Clinic!

FAQs

Lactic acid can cause skin peeling, though the amount of visible flaking depends on the concentration used, your skin's tolerance and how it is applied. As an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA), lactic acid works by dissolving the bonds between dead skin cells, promoting exfoliation and cell turnover. At lower concentrations (5% to 12%) found in daily-use products like serums and toners, lactic acid typically causes gentle, microscopic exfoliation that is not visible as dramatic peeling; you may notice smoother texture and minor flaking but usually not obvious shedding; and this level is designed for regular use without significant visible peeling. At medium concentrations (20% to 40%) used in at-home peels or mild professional treatments, lactic acid can cause noticeable light flaking or peeling beginning 2 to 4 days after application; visible shedding that is generally less intense than stronger peels; and results developing over several days as old skin sheds. At higher concentrations (50% to 90%) used in professional chemical peels, lactic acid causes more significant visible peeling with noticeable skin shedding over 3 to 7 days; the degree of peeling depending on concentration and application time; and results similar to other medium-strength AHA peels. Individual factors affecting peeling include your skin type, with dry or sensitive skin potentially showing more visible peeling; whether you are accustomed to acids or new to chemical exfoliation; how hydrated your skin is; and the specific product formulation. The absence of visible peeling does not mean lactic acid is not working, as exfoliation occurs at a cellular level even without obvious shedding. If peeling occurs, do not pick or pull at flaking skin, keep skin well-moisturised, allow natural shedding, and use sun protection diligently.

In London the price of Lactic Acid Peel typically ranges from around £95 to £410, but prices vary between clinics. Cost depends on peel strength and product type, the size and sensitivity of the area treated, the number of sessions required and the practitioner’s experience. If you want to know the price of Lactic Acid Peel in London or how much Lactic Acid Peel costs locally, check whether aftercare or combination treatments are included. You can find the exact, up-to-date price for this treatment in the catalogue

Using a lactic acid peel correctly is essential for safe, effective results. The application process differs between at-home peels and professional treatments, and following proper protocols minimises risks while maximising benefits. For at-home lactic acid peels, the general process involves cleansing your face thoroughly with a gentle cleanser and patting completely dry; applying the lactic acid peel solution evenly across the face, avoiding the eye area, lips and any broken skin; leaving the peel on for the recommended time, typically 1 to 10 minutes depending on concentration and product instructions; monitoring your skin for excessive stinging, burning or discomfort; neutralising or rinsing thoroughly with cool water when the time is complete; and applying a gentle, hydrating moisturiser and SPF if during daytime. Important guidelines include starting with shorter application times, especially if new to lactic acid, and gradually increasing as tolerated; never exceeding the recommended time on the product instructions; discontinuing immediately and rinsing if you experience severe burning, pain or unusual reactions; avoiding use on sunburned, irritated or compromised skin; and not combining with other active ingredients like retinoids, vitamin C or other acids on the same day. Before using a lactic acid peel, avoid other exfoliating products for 3 to 5 days before treatment; do not use retinoids for 5 to 7 days before peeling; ensure skin is healthy and not irritated; and consider patch testing if using a new product. After using a lactic acid peel, avoid direct sun exposure and use SPF 50+ daily; skip active ingredients for 48 to 72 hours; keep skin hydrated with gentle moisturisers; do not pick at any flaking skin; and avoid heat, sweating and harsh products for 24 to 48 hours. For professional lactic acid peels, the practitioner handles application, timing and neutralisation, providing more controlled, potentially stronger treatment than at-home options.

Yes, lactic acid is a type of chemical peel, specifically an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) peel. The term chemical peel refers to any treatment using chemical solutions to exfoliate skin, remove dead cells and promote new cell growth, and lactic acid fits this definition. However, not all lactic acid products are considered peels in the traditional sense. At lower concentrations (5% to 15%) in daily-use products like serums, toners and moisturisers, lactic acid provides chemical exfoliation but is not typically called a peel; these are exfoliating treatments for regular use. At higher concentrations (20% to 90%) applied periodically for intensive exfoliation, lactic acid is considered a true chemical peel, whether performed professionally or with at-home peel products. Lactic acid peels are classified as superficial to medium-depth peels depending on concentration, affecting the epidermis and potentially the upper dermis without penetrating to deeper dermal layers. How lactic acid compares to other chemical peels shows it is generally gentler than glycolic acid peels due to larger molecule size penetrating more slowly; more hydrating than many other AHAs due to its humectant properties; well-suited for sensitive skin and those new to chemical peels; and effective for dryness and dehydration alongside exfoliation. Other types of chemical peels include glycolic acid (another AHA) for surface exfoliation; salicylic acid (BHA) for oil-soluble, pore-penetrating exfoliation; trichloroacetic acid (TCA) for medium-depth peeling; and combination peels using multiple acids. Lactic acid's unique properties make it a popular choice for people seeking gentle yet effective chemical exfoliation, particularly those with dry, sensitive or mature skin who may not tolerate stronger acids as well.

A lactic acid peel performs several beneficial functions for the skin through its exfoliating, hydrating and rejuvenating properties. The treatment works by dissolving the bonds between dead skin cells in the stratum corneum through its action as an alpha hydroxy acid; promoting shedding of dull, damaged surface cells; stimulating cell turnover for fresher, newer skin; and penetrating into the skin to provide deeper benefits beyond surface exfoliation. The specific effects of a lactic acid peel include exfoliation, removing dead skin cells for smoother texture; improving rough, dull or uneven skin surface; revealing brighter, more radiant skin underneath; and preparing skin for better absorption of other products. For hydration, lactic acid draws moisture into the skin due to its humectant properties; improves skin hydration levels; and helps with dry, dehydrated skin alongside exfoliation. For brightening, the peel fades hyperpigmentation, dark spots and sun damage; evens out skin tone; reduces the appearance of melasma and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation; and creates a more luminous complexion. For anti-ageing, lactic acid stimulates collagen production with regular use; reduces fine lines and improves skin texture; and improves overall skin quality and firmness. For acne and congestion, it helps unclog pores and reduce breakouts; improves acne scarring and post-acne marks; and refines pore appearance. Lactic acid peels are particularly beneficial for dry or dehydrated skin needing exfoliation without further drying; sensitive skin that cannot tolerate stronger acids; hyperpigmentation and uneven skin tone; mature skin seeking gentle anti-ageing benefits; and those new to chemical peels wanting a gentler introduction. The treatment provides comprehensive skin improvement through multiple mechanisms while being gentler than many other chemical peels, making it suitable for a wide range of skin types and concerns.

A lactic acid peel is a chemical exfoliation treatment that uses lactic acid, an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) derived from milk, to remove dead skin cells, improve skin texture and address various skin concerns. The treatment involves applying a solution containing lactic acid to the skin for a specified time, allowing it to dissolve the bonds between dead skin cells and promote shedding and renewal. Lactic acid is unique among AHAs due to its larger molecular size, which means slower, more gradual penetration and generally gentler action compared to glycolic acid; its humectant properties that draw moisture into the skin, providing hydrating benefits alongside exfoliation; its ability to inhibit tyrosinase, the enzyme involved in melanin production, making it effective for pigmentation; and its suitability for sensitive and dry skin types. Lactic acid peels are available at various strengths: low concentrations (10% to 30%) for mild exfoliation suitable for beginners or sensitive skin; medium concentrations (40% to 50%) for moderate peeling with more significant results; and high concentrations (60% to 90%) for professional use only with more intensive treatment. Professional lactic acid peels are performed in clinical settings by trained aestheticians or dermatologists, using higher concentrations for more significant results. At-home lactic acid peels use lower concentrations designed for self-application with careful following of instructions. The treatment can address dull, lacklustre skin; uneven skin tone and hyperpigmentation; dry, rough or textured skin; fine lines and signs of ageing; mild acne and congestion; and overall skin rejuvenation. A typical treatment course involves multiple peels spaced 2 to 4 weeks apart, with maintenance peels as needed. Results include smoother, brighter skin with improved texture and tone.

Yes, lactic acid peels are generally good for your skin when used appropriately, offering multiple benefits with a gentler approach than many other chemical peels. The treatment provides several advantages for skin health and appearance. Benefits of lactic acid peels include effective exfoliation removing dead cells and improving texture without being overly harsh; hydrating properties that make it suitable for dry skin, unlike some acids that can be drying; brightening effects that fade hyperpigmentation and even skin tone; anti-ageing benefits through collagen stimulation and improved cell turnover; gentleness making it suitable for sensitive skin and those new to chemical peels; and versatility addressing multiple concerns simultaneously. Lactic acid peels are particularly good for dry or dehydrated skin needing exfoliation without further drying; sensitive skin that reacts to stronger acids; mature skin seeking gentle anti-ageing treatment; hyperpigmentation and uneven skin tone; and people new to chemical exfoliation. However, lactic acid peels can be problematic if overused, leading to over-exfoliation and barrier damage; used on broken, irritated or sunburned skin; combined inappropriately with other active ingredients; applied without proper sun protection afterwards; or used at too high a concentration for your skin's tolerance. To ensure lactic acid peels are good for your skin, start with lower concentrations and build tolerance gradually; follow product instructions and recommended frequency; maintain proper skincare including hydration and sun protection; avoid combining with other exfoliating products on the same day; and listen to your skin, reducing frequency if irritation occurs. When used correctly as part of a balanced skincare routine, lactic acid peels can significantly improve skin quality, texture and appearance while being gentler than many alternatives. Most skin types can benefit from appropriately formulated lactic acid products.

No, you should not use lactic acid immediately after The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution, as this would cause excessive exfoliation, severe irritation and potential damage to your skin barrier. The Ordinary Peeling Solution already contains a high concentration of acids including 30% AHAs (glycolic, lactic, tartaric and citric acids) plus 2% salicylic acid, providing intensive exfoliation that does not need supplementation. After using The Ordinary Peeling Solution, your skin needs recovery time before any additional acid products are introduced. You should wait at least 48 to 72 hours, and ideally 3 to 5 days, before using lactic acid or any other exfoliating products. During this recovery period, use only gentle, non-active skincare including mild cleansers, hydrating serums with hyaluronic acid, gentle moisturisers, and sun protection. Avoid all exfoliants, acids, retinoids and active ingredients. Using lactic acid too soon after The Ordinary Peeling Solution risks chemical burns or severe irritation; compromised skin barrier leading to chronic sensitivity; excessive dryness, redness and flaking; and potential for hyperpigmentation or long-term damage. If lactic acid is part of your regular skincare routine, discontinue it 24 to 48 hours before using The Ordinary Peeling Solution; wait 3 to 5 days after the peel before carefully reintroducing it; start with lower frequency when resuming to assess tolerance; and monitor your skin for any signs of over-exfoliation. The general principle is that chemical exfoliants should never be layered or used in quick succession. The Ordinary Peeling Solution is an intensive treatment designed for weekly use at most, and adding more acids immediately after defeats its purpose and harms your skin. Space your exfoliating treatments appropriately and prioritise skin barrier health over aggressive exfoliation.

Before lactic acid peel treatment, people typically have dull, lacklustre skin lacking radiance; uneven skin tone with hyperpigmentation or dark spots; rough, textured skin surface; dry or dehydrated skin needing exfoliation; fine lines and early signs of ageing; post-acne marks or mild discolouration; and overall tired-looking, congested complexion. These concerns are usually mild to moderate, as lactic acid peels work best for surface-level issues and provide gradual improvement. After lactic acid peel treatment, following completion of a recommended series (typically 4 to 6 peels spaced 2 to 4 weeks apart) and allowing time for cumulative results to develop, most people experience noticeable improvements. Common results include brighter, more radiant complexion with improved glow; smoother, more refined skin texture; more even skin tone with faded dark spots and pigmentation; improved hydration and skin plumpness; softened fine lines and improved skin quality; clearer, less congested skin; and overall healthier, more youthful appearance. The degree of improvement depends on the severity of initial concerns, with mild issues showing better response; the concentration of lactic acid used; the number of treatments completed; individual skin response and consistency of treatment; and adherence to proper aftercare and sun protection. During the treatment process, changes develop gradually: immediately after each peel, skin may appear slightly pink or flushed; days 1 to 3 show possible mild tightness or light flaking; days 3 to 7 reveal smoother, brighter skin as exfoliation completes; and weeks 2 to 4 demonstrate cumulative improvement building with each treatment. Unlike more aggressive peels, lactic acid typically causes minimal to no visible peeling, with most people experiencing only subtle flaking if any. The gentle nature means less dramatic immediate results but steady, progressive improvement over the treatment course. Before and after expectations should be realistic: lactic acid peels provide gradual refinement rather than dramatic transformation; results are cumulative, building over multiple treatments; improvement in texture, brightness and tone is typical; deep wrinkles or severe scarring require more aggressive treatments; and maintaining results requires ongoing skincare and possible maintenance peels. Most satisfied lactic acid peel users appreciate the gentle yet effective approach; notice meaningful improvement in skin quality; value the hydrating benefits alongside exfoliation; and find it an excellent option for sensitive or dry skin types. The treatment provides worthwhile improvement for appropriate concerns while being gentler than many alternatives, making it suitable for people seeking skin refinement without aggressive procedures or significant downtime.
