The duo at Tiara Aesthetics have been both warm and professional during all of my visits. They’re clearly both highly experienced as they were able to work collaboratively with me, through consultation, in order to help me to achieve the look I wanted. I was super particular about what that was, and I feel so good about the result! My commute to their Leicester practice is over an hour, but 100% worth it and moving forward, there is no one else that I would now trust for the procedures I had done. I will for sure be returning. For anyone who is slightly apprehensive, I definitely would recommend them - you are in safe hands.

FAQs

While there are some non-filler options for addressing nasolabial folds, it is important to understand that these smile lines are primarily caused by volume loss in the midface and facial fat descent with ageing, which means fillers are typically the most effective and immediate solution. However, alternative approaches include: cheek fillers or volumising treatments placed higher in the midface can provide lift that indirectly softens nasolabial folds; skin tightening treatments like radiofrequency, ultrasound therapy or Morpheus8 may provide subtle improvement by tightening skin; thread lifts can offer some lifting effect; laser resurfacing or chemical peels can improve skin texture and quality, though they will not address volume loss; preventative measures like sun protection, retinoids and good skincare can slow progression; and in severe cases, surgical options like a facelift provide more dramatic results. However, these alternatives have significant limitations: most provide subtle rather than noticeable improvement; results are often slower to develop and less predictable; skin tightening treatments cannot replace lost volume; and many are more expensive or invasive than filler. For most people with moderate nasolabial folds, dermal filler remains the gold standard treatment because it directly addresses the volume loss causing the folds, provides immediate visible results, is minimally invasive with little downtime, and offers natural-looking improvement when performed by skilled practitioners. A consultation with an experienced practitioner can help determine whether filler or alternative treatments are most appropriate for your specific concerns and facial anatomy.

In Leicester, the price of Nasolabial Fold Filler typically ranges from around £230 to £400, and fees can vary between clinics. The price will reflect how much filler is required (ml or syringes), the chosen filler brand, the practitioner’s experience and the planned result. Treatment complexity and whether follow-up or additional sessions are needed also influence how much Nasolabial Fold Filler costs locally. To compare options, look at the price of Nasolabial Fold Filler and the cost of Nasolabial Fold Filler overall when choosing a clinic. Yes, dermal filler can very effectively help nasolabial folds and is considered one of the most successful treatments for this concern. Nasolabial folds, the lines running from the sides of the nose to the corners of the mouth, deepen with age due to volume loss in the midface, facial fat descent and loss of skin elasticity. Filler works by directly adding volume beneath the fold to plump and lift it, creating a smoother transition between the cheek and mouth area. When placed correctly by an experienced practitioner, filler can significantly soften moderate to deep nasolabial folds, creating a more youthful, refreshed appearance. However, effectiveness depends on proper technique: the best approach often involves treating the midface with cheek filler to provide lift and support from above, which can reduce the depth of nasolabial folds more naturally than filling the folds directly; sometimes a combination of cheek filler plus conservative direct filling of the folds produces optimal results; and the specific type and amount of filler must be carefully chosen based on fold depth and individual anatomy. Filler typically lasts 9 to 18 months in this area, with results visible immediately though swelling can temporarily exaggerate improvement. Not all nasolabial folds respond equally well to filler - very deep, severe folds may require more comprehensive treatment or may not achieve complete smoothing. A skilled practitioner will assess your individual facial structure, ageing pattern and fold severity to create an appropriate treatment plan that delivers natural-looking improvement without overfilling or creating an unnatural appearance.

Yes, cheek fillers can effectively reduce the appearance of nasolabial folds, and this is often a more sophisticated approach than filling the folds directly. Nasolabial folds develop largely because of volume loss in the midface and descent of facial fat pads with ageing. By restoring volume to the cheeks with strategic filler placement, you provide lift and support to the midface tissues, which can significantly soften nasolabial folds from above. This approach addresses the root cause rather than just the symptom. Cheek filler works for nasolabial folds by recreating the youthful volume and structure that naturally minimises fold depth, lifting sagging tissues that contribute to fold prominence, and improving overall facial proportions and balance. The degree of improvement depends on several factors: the severity of your nasolabial folds, with mild to moderate folds responding better than very deep ones; your overall facial anatomy and ageing pattern; the amount and placement of cheek filler; and whether direct filling of the folds is also needed for optimal results. For some people, cheek filler alone provides sufficient improvement in nasolabial folds; others achieve best results with a combination of cheek filler for lift plus conservative direct filler in the folds for additional smoothing. This combined approach often produces more natural, harmonious results than aggressive direct filling alone. An experienced practitioner will assess your individual facial structure during consultation to determine whether cheek filler alone will address your nasolabial folds satisfactorily or whether a combination approach is more appropriate. The advantage of treating nasolabial folds via the cheeks is that it creates overall facial rejuvenation and better proportions rather than isolated treatment of one area.

Lip fillers do not directly cause nasolabial folds, but poorly placed or excessive lip filler can sometimes make existing nasolabial folds appear more prominent or noticeable. This occurs through several mechanisms: overfilled lips can create unflattering contrast with the surrounding area, drawing more attention to nasolabial folds by comparison; excessive lip volume, particularly in the upper lip, can push against and accentuate the fold; heavy lips can contribute to downward pull on facial tissues, potentially worsening the appearance of folds over time; and unnatural lip proportions can disrupt facial harmony, making various age-related changes including nasolabial folds more obvious. However, when lip filler is placed correctly by an experienced practitioner using appropriate amounts and technique, it should not cause or worsen nasolabial folds. In fact, subtle lip enhancement can sometimes improve overall facial balance and draw attention away from folds. The key is moderation and proper technique. If you notice that your nasolabial folds appear worse after lip filler, it may indicate overfilling, inappropriate product selection or placement, or simply that the enhanced lips are creating unflattering contrast with volume-depleted midface. In such cases, a comprehensive facial assessment and treatment plan that addresses multiple areas - potentially including midface volumisation, conservative lip enhancement and possibly direct treatment of the folds - may achieve more harmonious, natural-looking results. It is also worth noting that nasolabial folds naturally deepen with age due to midface volume loss and tissue descent, so folds becoming more noticeable over time is part of normal ageing rather than caused by lip filler. A skilled practitioner will consider your entire facial anatomy when planning any filler treatment to ensure all areas work together harmoniously.

Nasolabial fold filler can migrate, though when performed correctly by experienced practitioners using appropriate products and techniques, the risk is relatively low. Migration occurs when filler moves from its intended placement in or around the nasolabial fold to surrounding areas, which can create irregularities, lumps, unnatural appearance or worsen the very concern being treated. The nasolabial area is somewhat prone to migration because of constant facial movement from talking, eating, smiling and facial expressions; the proximity to highly mobile areas like the mouth and lips; the potential for overfilling, as practitioners sometimes use too much product trying to completely erase deep folds; and improper placement, depth or technique. Factors that increase migration risk include using too much filler at once or over multiple sessions, creating volume the tissues cannot hold; placing filler too superficially rather than deep near the bone or in appropriate tissue planes; using very soft, fluid fillers that are not designed for structural support; excessive massage or manipulation of the area after treatment; and natural facial dynamics over time. Signs of migration include filler appearing to have moved lower or to the side of the original injection site; new lumps, bumps or irregularities appearing; loss of the desired smoothing effect; an unnatural or distorted appearance around the mouth; or the nasolabial fold looking worse rather than better. To minimise migration risk, choose an experienced injector who understands facial anatomy, ageing patterns and appropriate treatment techniques for this area; uses conservative amounts of appropriate products placed at the correct depth; avoids overfilling and respects the area's limitations; and follows up to assess results and make adjustments if needed. A conservative, gradual approach building results over multiple sessions is safer than aggressive single-session treatment. If migration occurs, the filler can be dissolved with hyaluronidase, so using hyaluronic acid fillers provides a safety net. Prevention through skilled technique is always preferable to correction.

Fillers in nasolabial folds typically last between 9 to 18 months, with most people experiencing results for around 12 months on average, though longevity varies considerably based on multiple factors. The nasolabial area is subject to constant movement from facial expressions, talking and eating, which can cause filler to break down more quickly than in less mobile areas. Factors affecting duration include the specific product used, with more robust, cohesive fillers designed for deeper placement lasting longer than softer formulations; the amount of filler injected, with larger volumes sometimes lasting slightly longer; the depth and placement, with filler placed deeper near bone lasting longer than superficial placement; your individual metabolism and how quickly your body breaks down hyaluronic acid; the degree of facial animation and expression, with very expressive people potentially seeing faster breakdown; your age and skin quality; lifestyle factors like exercise intensity, stress and sun exposure; and whether filler was placed directly in the folds or in the cheeks for indirect improvement. Some newer, more advanced products can last up to 18 months or occasionally longer in this area. However, because the nasolabial folds are in a high-movement area, even long-lasting products typically break down somewhat faster here than they might in more static areas like the cheeks or chin. Most practitioners recommend review appointments around 9 to 12 months after treatment to assess whether top-ups are needed. With regular maintenance treatments, some people find they need less filler over time to maintain results, as repeated treatments can have some cumulative collagen-stimulating effects. Realistic expectations about longevity are important when considering nasolabial fold filler, as this is not a permanent solution and will require ongoing maintenance.

Filler in nasolabial folds typically takes 2 to 4 weeks to fully settle, though the timeline varies between individuals. Immediately after treatment, there will be swelling, which can be quite noticeable in this area and may make the folds appear completely smoothed or even over-corrected. The nasolabial area is particularly prone to swelling because of its high vascularity and constant movement. Most of the initial swelling subsides within the first 3 to 7 days, with more subtle swelling, any firmness, tenderness and minor irregularities usually resolving over the following 1 to 3 weeks. Some people experience minimal swelling that settles quickly within a few days, while others have more pronounced swelling that takes longer to resolve, particularly if larger volumes were used or if there is bruising. During the settling period, the folds may appear to deepen again as swelling subsides, which can be concerning but is normal. The filler needs time to integrate with surrounding tissue, soften and settle into its final position. You might notice the treated area feels firm, looks slightly uneven or the improvement seems less dramatic than immediately after treatment - all of this typically resolves during the settling period. It is crucial not to judge your final result until all swelling has completely resolved, usually by the 2 to 4 week mark, as the appearance can change considerably during this time. The fold may not be completely erased even after settling, which is normal and appropriate - attempting to completely eliminate nasolabial folds often results in an overfilled, unnatural appearance. Your practitioner should schedule a follow-up appointment around 2 to 4 weeks after treatment to assess the results once everything has settled and determine if any adjustments are needed for optimal, natural-looking improvement.

The amount of filler needed for nasolabial folds varies considerably depending on several factors, but typically ranges from 0.5ml to 2ml total for both sides, with most people requiring around 1ml to 1.5ml for moderate improvement. The specific amount depends on the depth and severity of your nasolabial folds, with deeper folds requiring more product; your overall facial anatomy and the degree of midface volume loss; whether you are also having cheek filler, which can reduce the amount needed directly in the folds; your aesthetic goals and how much correction you want; whether this is your first treatment or a top-up session; your practitioner's technique and approach; and your age and skin quality. For mild nasolabial folds, 0.5ml to 1ml total may be sufficient; for moderate folds, 1ml to 1.5ml is common; and for deep folds, 1.5ml to 2ml or occasionally more may be needed, though this should be built up gradually rather than all at once. Many experienced practitioners prefer a conservative approach, starting with smaller amounts, typically 0.5ml to 1ml in the first session, to assess how your tissue responds and avoid overfilling. Additional product can be added at a follow-up appointment if needed. It is much easier and safer to add more filler than to correct overfilling. The trend in modern aesthetics is towards less direct filling of nasolabial folds and more focus on midface volumisation, which can reduce the amount needed in the folds themselves. One syringe of filler is typically 1ml, so treatment might involve one syringe split between both folds, or sometimes more for deeper folds or combination treatment. Your practitioner should provide a personalised recommendation during consultation based on examining your specific facial structure, fold severity and overall treatment goals. Remember that the aim is natural-looking improvement rather than complete elimination of the folds, which can look unnatural and require excessive amounts of product.

Before nasolabial fold filler treatment, people typically have moderate to deep lines running from the sides of the nose to the corners of the mouth, which can make them appear older, tired, or sad even when their face is at rest. These folds are often accompanied by midface volume loss, sunken cheeks, or an overall aged appearance in the lower face. The folds may cast shadows that are particularly noticeable in certain lighting or photographs, and many people feel self-conscious about how pronounced they are. After nasolabial fold filler treatment, once all swelling has subsided usually within 2 to 4 weeks, the folds typically appear significantly softer and less deep, creating a smoother transition between the cheek and mouth area. The face often looks more youthful, refreshed and rested, with better facial harmony and balance. The degree of improvement depends on several factors including the severity of the folds before treatment, the amount and placement of filler used, whether additional areas like the cheeks were also treated, individual facial anatomy and the skill of the practitioner. Results can range from subtle softening to quite noticeable improvement, though it is important to understand that completely eliminating nasolabial folds is neither realistic nor desirable, as some fold is natural and necessary for normal facial expression. The goal is natural-looking softening rather than total erasure. Immediately after treatment, the area will be swollen, possibly bruised and may appear overly smooth or even over-corrected, so patience during the settling period is essential. The best results are typically achieved with a conservative, gradual approach, potentially combining cheek filler for lift with moderate direct filling of the folds, rather than aggressive direct filling alone. Your practitioner should provide realistic before and after photos from their own work, taken after swelling has resolved, showing results on various ages and fold severities to help set appropriate expectations. Well-executed nasolabial fold treatment creates natural-looking rejuvenation that maintains facial character and expression while softening the aged appearance that deep folds create. Results typically last 9 to 18 months and require ongoing maintenance to sustain the improvement.
