I had a facial with Dr. Lana and it was amazing! She was super welcoming and did a really detailed skin consultation with their analysis machine before starting. The treatment included a very thorough manual extraction, peels, and LED therapy, and she was so careful with my acne. She even applied a healing enzyme peel to leave on overnight, which really helped the recovery.
My skin is still healing, but I can already see such a difference (no new breakouts and glow even after one session). Plus, they use really high-quality products.
Thank you so much 🫶🏻 Definitely recommend!

I went for the first time with some doubts about a cosmetic issue, and it was the best decision I made. It's my go-to salon, a real find, and Sally is simply exemplary. She always has a smile on her face and is incredibly kind. Walking into the salon felt like home. Sally is a true professional, the salon is spotless, all very clean, and everyone who works there is lovely. I recommend it 100%.

I’ve been seeing Professor Firas Al-Niaimi at GHB Clinic for almost two years now for the removal of a large (10x10 cm) café-au-lait macule (birthmark). Every other dermatologist I consulted before hesitated to treat it with a laser, but Dr Firas was confident and experienced enough to take it on. From day one, he was very realistic about what to expect — the number of sessions required, the possible need for retreatments over the years, and the fact that it might not disappear completely.

The recovery after each treatment can be quite painful, and it usually takes around four months for the redness to start fading, but I’ve learned to trust the process. The results have been very encouraging so far — the macule has been gradually disappearing like a puzzle coming apart, just as Dr Firas had explained.

He also treated an area on my face where I had melasma previously treated by another professional about five years ago, which led to skin discolouration. The melasma pigmentation had started to reappear, but after Dr Firas’s treatment, not only did the melasma completely disappear, but the skin tone returned to normal after a few months.

The clinic itself is excellent, always clean, and the staff are consistently friendly and polite. I couldn’t recommend Dr Firas and GHB Clinic more highly for anyone seeking expert laser dermatology treatments.

I absolutely love The Skin Studio! Since starting my laser treatments with Abbie, my skin has improved more than I ever imagined. My texture is smoother, breakouts have reduced, and I feel so much more confident in my skin. Abbie has a special touch and a genuine passion for what she does. Her knowledge about skincare is incredible, she explains everything so clearly and always tailors the treatments to what my skin actually needs. I always leave feeling relaxed, cared for, and glowing. Couldn’t recommend her and The Skin Studio more highly!

I had a great experience at Aesthetics by Lauren Turner Clinic. I went in for a Genesis laser treatment to help with some post-acne scarring, and I couldn’t be happier with the service. The team is incredibly kind, professional, and made me feel really comfortable from start to finish. They explained everything clearly and took a very thoughtful approach. You can tell they genuinely care about their clients. The clinic itself is clean and welcoming, and overall the whole experience was just really positive. I’m really happy with the results so far and would definitely recommend them to anyone considering skin treatments. Five stars from me – highly recommend!

My skin looks clearer and smoother than ever. I’ll definitely be coming back regularly. Highly recommend this clinic for anyone looking for effective treatments with exceptional service!

I had a life changing UltraClear laser treatment with Dr Charlotte Keigwin for my acne scars. Several weeks later, my skin is smoother and my scarring has significantly improved! I look forward to seeing Dr Keigwin in the future and highly recommend Self London. Every step of the treatment was explained thoroughly as well as the aftercare. I’ve recommended friends and family to also book in.

FAQs

Laser treatment can significantly improve active acne and provide long-term reduction in breakouts, but it is not considered a complete cure as acne is a complex condition influenced by hormones, genetics and other factors that lasers cannot permanently eliminate. However, laser treatments can be highly effective as part of a comprehensive acne management approach. How laser treatments help active acne involves targeting the sebaceous glands to reduce oil production; destroying Cutibacterium acnes (P. acnes) bacteria that contribute to breakouts; reducing inflammation in the skin; stimulating collagen to improve overall skin health; and shrinking pore size. Types of lasers used for active acne include blue light therapy targeting acne-causing bacteria; pulsed dye laser reducing inflammation and redness; Nd:YAG laser penetrating deeper to affect sebaceous glands; and fractional lasers improving skin texture while treating acne. What laser treatment can achieve includes significant reduction in active breakouts; decreased severity of acne; reduced frequency of flare-ups; improvement in skin texture and quality; and decreased reliance on topical and oral medications for some people. Limitations of laser for acne relate to the underlying hormonal and genetic factors continuing to exist; ongoing maintenance treatments often being needed; some people responding better than others; and laser working best as part of comprehensive treatment including skincare and possibly medication. For best results, laser acne treatment should be viewed as an effective management tool rather than a permanent cure, often combined with appropriate skincare and medical treatments for optimal long-term control.

In London, the price of Laser Acne Treatment typically ranges from around £190 to £1099, but prices do vary between clinics. Local factors that affect how much Laser Acne Treatment costs in London include the area being treated, the specific laser technology or device used, and the number of sessions recommended by the practitioner, as well as the practitioner’s experience and clinic reputation. When checking the price of Laser Acne Treatment in London remember that personalised plans or combination treatments can alter the cost. You can find the exact, up-to-date price for this treatment in the catalogue

Yes, laser treatments work effectively for acne scars and are considered one of the most effective methods for improving the appearance of scarred skin. Different laser types address different scar characteristics, and significant improvement is achievable for most people with appropriate treatment. How lasers improve acne scars involves ablative lasers removing damaged surface skin and stimulating new collagen production; fractional lasers creating microscopic treatment zones that trigger healing and remodelling; non-ablative lasers heating deeper tissue to stimulate collagen without surface damage; and the wound healing response generating new, healthier skin tissue. Effectiveness by scar type shows that rolling scars with gentle sloping edges respond very well to fractional laser treatment; boxcar scars with defined edges respond well, though deep ones may need combination treatment; ice pick scars being narrow and deep are more challenging and may need additional techniques like TCA CROSS; and hyperpigmented scarring responds well to specific wavelengths targeting melanin. Evidence supporting laser effectiveness includes clinical studies demonstrating 50% to 70% improvement in acne scarring; high patient satisfaction rates with fractional laser treatment; proven stimulation of collagen types I and III; and established use as first-line treatment for moderate to severe acne scarring. Realistic expectations are important because laser treatment significantly improves but rarely eliminates scars completely; multiple treatments are typically needed; some scar types respond better than others; and results depend on scar severity, skin type and treatment protocol.

Getting rid of acne scars with laser treatment involves selecting the appropriate laser type for your specific scars, completing a recommended treatment course, and following proper aftercare to maximise results. The process requires professional assessment and a customised treatment plan. The treatment process begins with consultation to assess your scars, skin type and determine the most appropriate laser; your practitioner examines scar types, depth and distribution; a treatment plan is created including laser choice, number of sessions and expected outcomes; and pre-treatment preparation may include skincare adjustments and sun avoidance. Laser options for acne scars include fractional CO2 laser, which is highly effective for moderate to severe scarring with more significant downtime; fractional Erbium laser, which is similar effectiveness with potentially faster healing; fractional non-ablative lasers like Fraxel, which offer moderate improvement with less downtime; and picosecond or nanosecond lasers for pigmented scarring. The treatment itself involves cleansing and applying topical numbing cream; protective eyewear being placed; the laser being passed over scarred areas; treatment taking 30 to 60 minutes depending on area size; and post-treatment soothing products being applied. After treatment, expect redness, swelling and possibly pinpoint bleeding with ablative lasers; healing takes 5 to 14 days for ablative and 2 to 5 days for non-ablative; strict sun protection is essential; and multiple sessions spaced 4 to 8 weeks apart are typically needed. Results develop over 3 to 6 months as collagen remodelling occurs, with progressive improvement after each treatment session.

Yes, acne scar laser treatment is highly effective and is considered one of the gold standard treatments for improving the appearance of acne scarring. Clinical evidence and patient outcomes consistently demonstrate significant improvement in scar appearance with appropriate laser treatment. Evidence supporting effectiveness includes clinical studies showing 50% to 70% improvement in acne scarring with fractional lasers; proven stimulation of new collagen and elastin production; histological evidence of dermal remodelling after treatment; high patient satisfaction rates; and established place in dermatological practice for scar treatment. Effectiveness by laser type shows fractional ablative lasers (CO2, Erbium) providing more dramatic improvement of 50% to 70% with longer recovery; fractional non-ablative lasers providing moderate improvement of 30% to 50% with shorter recovery; combination approaches potentially achieving better results than single modality; and multiple sessions increasing cumulative effectiveness. Factors affecting how effective treatment will be for you include the type and severity of your scars; your skin type and healing capacity; the laser type and settings used; the number of treatments completed; practitioner skill and experience; and adherence to pre and post-treatment care. Limitations to understand include very deep ice pick scars being more challenging to treat; complete elimination of scars being unrealistic; multiple treatments being necessary; and some scar types responding better than others. For most people with acne scarring, laser treatment provides meaningful, visible improvement that significantly enhances skin appearance and confidence.

Yes, laser treatment is effective for both active acne and acne scarring, though different lasers and protocols are used for each concern. The effectiveness depends on using the appropriate laser type for your specific condition and completing an adequate treatment course. Effectiveness for active acne shows that laser and light treatments can reduce inflammatory acne by 40% to 70%; blue light therapy effectively kills acne-causing bacteria; pulsed dye laser reduces inflammation and redness; some lasers target sebaceous glands to reduce oil production; and results may reduce reliance on medications for some patients. Effectiveness for acne scarring shows that fractional lasers provide 50% to 70% improvement in moderate to severe scarring; multiple sessions produce cumulative improvement; different scar types respond to different laser approaches; and combination treatments may enhance results. Clinical evidence supporting laser acne treatment includes systematic reviews confirming benefit for inflammatory acne; studies demonstrating bacterial reduction with light therapy; proven collagen stimulation improving scarring; and established use in dermatological practice. Factors affecting effectiveness include the type and severity of your acne or scarring; your skin type; the specific laser and settings used; treatment frequency and number of sessions; and combination with other treatments. Realistic expectations are important because laser treatment significantly improves but may not completely resolve acne or scarring; ongoing maintenance may be needed for active acne; multiple sessions are required for scarring; and results vary between individuals based on their specific condition and response.

Laser acne treatment can generally be performed from the mid-teenage years onwards, though the appropriate age depends on the specific treatment, the severity of acne or scarring, and individual maturity and ability to follow aftercare instructions. There is no strict universal age limit, and treatment decisions are made on a case-by-case basis. Age considerations for active acne treatment show that light-based treatments like blue light therapy may be suitable from early teenage years; more intensive laser treatments are typically considered from mid-teens onwards (15 to 16+); the severity of acne and failure of other treatments influences timing; and parental consent is required for minors. Age considerations for acne scar treatment show that treatment is generally delayed until active acne is well-controlled; most practitioners prefer waiting until late teens (17 to 18+) for aggressive scar treatment; skin maturity affects healing and results; and some scars improve naturally during late adolescence. Factors determining appropriate age include the severity of acne or scarring; response to conventional treatments; emotional and psychological impact on the young person; ability to comply with pre and post-treatment care; skin maturity and healing capacity; and parental involvement and consent. Practitioner considerations include ensuring acne is adequately controlled before treating scars; using gentler protocols for younger patients; providing thorough consultation including parents for minors; and setting realistic expectations for ongoing skin development. Consultation with an experienced practitioner allows assessment of whether laser treatment is appropriate for a young person's specific situation, considering both clinical factors and their ability to manage the treatment process.

Most people require 3 to 6 laser treatments to achieve optimal improvement in acne scars, with sessions typically spaced 4 to 8 weeks apart. The exact number depends on the severity and type of scarring, the laser being used, and individual healing response. Treatment numbers by laser type show that fractional ablative lasers (CO2, Erbium) typically require 2 to 4 treatments due to more intensive action; fractional non-ablative lasers typically require 4 to 6 treatments with gentler cumulative improvement; and combination protocols may vary based on the specific approach. Treatment numbers by scar severity show that mild scarring may improve significantly with 2 to 3 treatments; moderate scarring typically requires 3 to 5 treatments; severe scarring often needs 5 to 6 or more treatments; and very deep or complex scarring may require additional sessions or combination approaches. Factors affecting how many treatments you need include the depth and type of your scars, with ice pick scars often needing more sessions; the total area of scarring; your skin type and healing capacity; the specific laser and settings used; your expectations and goals; and individual response to treatment. The treatment schedule typically involves sessions spaced 4 to 8 weeks apart; ablative treatments need longer intervals of 6 to 8 weeks; non-ablative treatments may be spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart; and assessment after each treatment guides ongoing planning. It is important to understand that complete removal of acne scars is rarely achievable; the goal is significant improvement of 50% to 70%; and some people benefit from maintenance treatments over time.

Before laser acne treatment, people typically have active inflammatory acne with papules, pustules and cysts not adequately controlled by other treatments; acne scarring including rolling, boxcar or ice pick scars affecting skin texture; post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation from previous breakouts; uneven, rough skin texture; visible pores and skin quality concerns; and significant impact on self-confidence and quality of life. These concerns often persist despite trying multiple other treatments. After laser acne treatment, following completion of a recommended treatment course and allowing adequate healing time, most people experience significant improvement. For active acne results, reduced frequency and severity of breakouts occurs; inflammation and redness decrease; skin appears clearer and healthier; and some patients reduce reliance on medications. For acne scar results, visible improvement in scar depth and appearance of 50% to 70% typically occurs; smoother, more even skin texture develops; reduced visibility of individual scars is achieved; improved skin quality and radiance appear; and enhanced confidence about skin appearance results. The improvement timeline shows that for active acne, improvement begins within weeks and develops over the treatment course; for scarring, initial improvement is visible within 4 to 6 weeks, continued enhancement occurs over 3 to 6 months as collagen remodels, and optimal results appear after completing the full treatment course. The degree of improvement depends on the type and severity of acne or scarring; the specific laser treatment used; the number of sessions completed; individual healing capacity; adherence to aftercare and sun protection; and whether combination treatments are used. Before and after expectations should be realistic: laser treatment provides significant improvement but not perfection; complete elimination of scars is unlikely; multiple treatments are necessary; and active acne may need ongoing management. Most satisfied patients are those who complete their full treatment course, follow aftercare diligently, have realistic expectations about improvement rather than perfection, and appreciate that meaningful enhancement in skin appearance and confidence is achievable.
