Johnross was our first port of call and was very professional and informative. His helpful manner was why we explored Elanic further much to our satisfaction.
When we spoke with Mr Ihsan Mahmood about my hip replacement, we found he listened, he explained how the replacement is performed with a real prostheses, and answered all my questions which made me feel relaxed and happy for us to go ahead with the operation.
All in all a very satisfactory experience from start to finish.

I recently visited Ever Clinic for skin tag removal. Dr Roisin was fantastic - explained the risks and benefits of having the procedure done, with no pressure whatsoever to proceed. I was able to have the procedure done the same day, with all steps being clearly explained to me during the procedure itself. Two weeks on and it’s healing well. Dr Roisin had a lovely manner and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this clinic. Many thanks Ever Clinic!

I first met with the team at Cosmedicare early 2021, from the very first appointment I felt completely at ease. I have since had 3 surgeries. All the staff are so welcoming, the atmospheres is so relaxed and friendly, you feel like you know the staff personally. I have complete trust in the Cosmedicare team so much so that I recommended them to my daughter and I knew she would be in safe hands. The owner Gill is so hands on, even answering calls while she is abroad. I could not recommend Cosmedicare enough, 5 stars from me.

I wish I had found Amanda at the Women's Clinic sooner. She has done for me what three separate private and expensive Dermatologists in London failed to do. I came to Amanda with a skin problem following use of a steroid cream. The skin was prone to tearing and pain and it was severely affecting my day to day life, confidence and mental health. I could tell immediately that Amanda had genuine care for my health and wellbeing. She was very friendly and welcoming. She was patient and listened attentively as I explained my issue. She made me feel at ease and comfortable during examination of the area. She was knowledgeable and shared with me all the information needed to make an informed decision to go ahead with treatment. I felt a huge sense of relief as I knew I was finally in good hands. I received a treatment with CO2 laser. Amanda was conscientious and made sure I was comfortable the whole time. She provided me with detailed information on how to look after the area following treatment. Her follow up care was exceptional. She checked in with me the next day to see how I was doing and made sure I knew to reach out should I need any further advice. I couldn't be more thrilled with the results following treatment at the Women's Clinic. Thank you Amanda for giving me my confidence back. You truly are changing people's lives for the better.

FAQs

Ablative laser resurfacing is an intensive skin rejuvenation treatment that uses laser energy to vaporise the outer layers of damaged skin, stimulating the body to produce new, healthier skin and collagen during the healing process. The term 'ablative' means the laser removes or destroys tissue, distinguishing it from non-ablative lasers that work without removing skin layers. The technology works by delivering precise laser energy that is absorbed by water in the skin cells; the energy vaporises the epidermis and upper dermis in a controlled manner; this removes damaged, aged or scarred skin; and the wound healing response generates new collagen and fresh skin tissue. Types of ablative lasers include CO2 (carbon dioxide) laser, which is the most powerful and effective ablative laser, providing dramatic results but with longer recovery; Erbium YAG laser, which is slightly gentler than CO2 with shorter recovery but still highly effective; and fractional ablative lasers, which treat a fraction of the skin surface leaving untreated areas that speed healing. Ablative laser resurfacing can treat moderate to severe wrinkles and fine lines; sun damage and photoageing; acne scars and surgical scars; uneven skin tone and texture; precancerous lesions (actinic keratoses); and overall skin rejuvenation. The treatment provides more dramatic results than non-ablative alternatives but requires significant downtime, typically 1 to 3 weeks depending on the treatment intensity and area treated.

In Glasgow, the price of Ablative Laser Resurfacing typically ranges from around £1250 to £3995, but individual clinic quotes can vary. Local pricing reflects factors such as the area being treated, the specific laser device used, the number of sessions recommended and the practitioner’s experience. If you are checking how much Ablative Laser Resurfacing costs in Glasgow, consider clinic reputation, included aftercare and whether a course of treatments is advised. The price of Ablative Laser Resurfacing and the cost of Ablative Laser Resurfacing overall will therefore differ between providers in Glasgow. You can find the exact, up-to-date price for this treatment in the catalogue

The fundamental difference between ablative and non-ablative laser resurfacing is that ablative lasers remove layers of skin while non-ablative lasers work beneath the surface without removing tissue. This distinction affects results, recovery time and suitability for different concerns. Ablative laser resurfacing removes the epidermis and part of the dermis; creates an open wound that must heal; provides more dramatic, significant results; requires substantial downtime of 1 to 3 weeks; carries higher risk of complications; is typically performed once or a few times; and is best for moderate to severe concerns. Non-ablative laser resurfacing heats the dermis without removing surface skin; leaves the epidermis intact; provides more subtle, gradual improvement; requires minimal downtime of 1 to 3 days typically; carries lower risk of complications; usually requires multiple sessions; and is best for mild to moderate concerns. Results comparison shows ablative providing 50% to 80% improvement in wrinkles and significant scar reduction from one treatment, while non-ablative provides 20% to 40% improvement requiring multiple sessions for cumulative results. Recovery comparison shows ablative requiring 7 to 21 days before returning to normal activities with wound care needed, while non-ablative allows return to activities immediately or within 1 to 3 days with minimal aftercare. Risk comparison shows ablative having higher risk of infection, scarring, pigmentation changes and prolonged redness, while non-ablative has lower complication rates though still possible pigmentation changes. Choosing between them depends on the severity of your concerns; available downtime for recovery; risk tolerance; budget considerations; and skin type, with darker skin often better suited to non-ablative options.

Yes, ablative laser resurfacing works very effectively and is considered one of the most powerful non-surgical treatments available for skin rejuvenation. It has extensive clinical evidence demonstrating significant improvement in wrinkles, scarring, texture and overall skin quality. Clinical evidence supporting ablative laser resurfacing includes decades of research and clinical use; studies showing 50% to 80% improvement in moderate to severe wrinkles; significant improvement in acne scarring, often 50% to 70% reduction; proven effectiveness for sun damage and photoageing; and high patient satisfaction rates. How ablative laser resurfacing works effectively involves removing damaged surface skin layers completely; triggering robust wound healing response; stimulating significant new collagen and elastin production; allowing fresh, undamaged skin to regenerate; and providing structural remodelling of the dermis. What ablative laser resurfacing works for includes moderate to severe facial wrinkles; perioral lines (around the mouth); periorbital lines (around the eyes); acne scars and other scarring; sun damage and age spots; uneven texture and skin quality; and precancerous lesions. Factors affecting how well it works include the type and intensity of laser used; the depth of treatment; your skin type and healing capacity; the specific concern being treated; adherence to post-treatment care; and sun protection during healing. Realistic expectations are important because ablative resurfacing provides dramatic improvement but not perfection; very deep wrinkles or scars may improve significantly but not disappear entirely; multiple treatments may be needed for severe concerns; and results depend on proper healing and aftercare.

Ablative laser resurfacing results are long-lasting, typically persisting for 5 to 10 years or longer, because the treatment stimulates genuine tissue regeneration and collagen remodelling that becomes part of your skin structure. This exceptional longevity makes it one of the most durable non-surgical rejuvenation options available. Why results last so long relates to the treatment removing damaged skin layers permanently; new collagen and elastin produced becoming permanent tissue; genuine structural improvement in the dermis; and the regenerated skin being healthier and more youthful. The timeline of results shows initial healing over 1 to 3 weeks with new skin forming; continued improvement over 3 to 6 months as collagen remodelling progresses; optimal results visible at 6 to 12 months; and results maintained for many years with proper care. Factors affecting longevity include sun protection, as UV damage is the primary factor that can diminish results; smoking, which accelerates skin ageing and collagen breakdown; overall skincare routine maintaining skin health; genetics affecting how your skin ages; lifestyle factors including diet, sleep and stress; and natural ageing, which continues regardless of treatment. To maximise how long results last, protect skin with daily SPF 50+ sunscreen religiously; maintain quality skincare with retinoids and antioxidants; avoid smoking completely; stay hydrated and maintain healthy lifestyle; and consider maintenance treatments as desired. While natural ageing continues after ablative resurfacing, many people find their skin continues to look significantly better than it would have without treatment for a decade or more. Some people choose touch-up treatments after several years to maintain optimal results.

Before ablative laser resurfacing, people typically have moderate to severe wrinkles, particularly around the mouth and eyes; significant sun damage with mottled pigmentation and rough texture; acne scars creating textural irregularities and indentations; overall aged, weathered skin appearance; deep lines that have not responded to other treatments; and skin quality concerns requiring intensive intervention. These issues often significantly impact confidence and may have been unsuccessfully treated with gentler approaches. After ablative laser resurfacing, once healing is complete (typically 2 to 4 weeks for initial healing with continued improvement over months), most appropriate candidates experience dramatic improvement. Common results include significantly reduced wrinkles, often 50% to 80% improvement; smoother, more even skin texture; reduced or eliminated sun spots and pigmentation; improved acne scarring, typically 50% to 70% reduction; tighter, firmer skin from collagen stimulation; overall more youthful, refreshed appearance; and rejuvenated skin quality. The healing and results timeline during days 1 to 7 shows intense healing with oozing, crusting and significant redness; wound care is essential; during days 7 to 14, new skin forms and most crusting resolves; skin remains pink and sensitive; during weeks 2 to 4, redness gradually fades; makeup can typically be worn; most people return to normal activities; during months 1 to 3, residual pinkness continues to fade; early results visible; and during months 3 to 12, continued collagen remodelling; optimal results develop. The degree of improvement depends on the type of ablative laser used (CO2 versus Erbium versus fractional); treatment depth and intensity; the severity of initial concerns; individual healing capacity; adherence to aftercare protocols; and sun protection during and after healing. Before and after expectations should be realistic: ablative resurfacing provides dramatic improvement but requires significant commitment to recovery; downtime of 1 to 3 weeks is required; healing involves visible wound stages; pigmentation risks exist especially in darker skin; and results, while dramatic, do not stop future ageing. Most satisfied patients are those prepared for the recovery process; have appropriate concerns for this intensive treatment; follow aftercare meticulously; and have realistic expectations about the balance between dramatic results and significant downtime.
