Overall Paul Banwells demeanour is arrogant, unprofessional and dismissive. From start to finish I was rushed through, treated like a number and means of the next payment as opposed to being heard and cared for as an individual patient. I should have known from the ten minute consultation that this was not a surgeon who had my best interest. However being keen for the procedure to be carried I went against my best judgement as I’m sure many women who are effected mentally on a daily basis by their body image can relate to the feeling of wanting to assume the best of the most affordable and convenient advertised fix on the market. So I naively gave the benefit of doubt assuming he may have had a busy schedule however in hindsight this is inexcusable as I paid £225 for this consultation alone so my questions and concerns should have been answered as opposed to assertively being told to make my decision by doing my own research into the specifics. No improvement on actual day of surgery, I came on time but was not informed prior that I would be waiting around for hours to be seen as he also had multiple other surgeries to carry out that morning which was apparent by his yet again short appearance to see me before surgery to mark my chest, sign a document then abruptly disappear and didn’t even care to make an appearance after I woke up to tell me how everything went or answer any questions I had as the nurses only have a limited amount of knowledge on the procedure so this was yet another massive disappointment. The after care was the most shocking part of the experience. I was not happy with the results as after the swelling went down my breast were pretty much identical to how they were originally and he just told me that results are unpredictable as every body is different. I also went multiple times in regards to concerns for lumps that had developed in my breast, each of these appointments lasting no longer than 5 minutes. He originally said they should disappear over time then months later no change so I went back to be told not to worry, it’s just breast tissue and nothing to do with the surgery even though they definitely wasn’t there pre surgery and I could see the lumps through my skin and feel the difference in hardness like the size of a pea and a number of these appeared over time. I was made to feel my concerns were all in my head and I was making something out of nothing when in fact he just didn’t want to take accountability or be bothered to correct any problems. I visited my GP for a second opinion and was referred to hospital for scans and when I told the story of my dealings with this so called surgeon the consultant was very confused, shocked and said he should have investigated further with scans as with having the surgery only a year ago I should still be under his duty of care and responsibility instead of being dismissed. The lumps in my breast were confirmed and addressed in the hospital, even drained to remove. I recommend not to make the same mistake as I did to trust this man as it left me with no improvements, only problems. He should be embarrassed and ashamed!
